Hot lunch is on the menu! When you’re craving something warm, the Explorer makes it easy—just remove the tray and pop it in the microwave!

Stainless steel stands strong against dents and dings, withstanding daily use without cracking or breaking.

Our engineers discovered a design that makes stainless steel microwave safe! The low profile sides and rounded corners of the tray ensure that no sparks will ignite in the microwave.

Food slides off our corners with a quick rinse. Dishwasher safe? Absolutely. Peanut butter left for a week? No problem – our stainless steel resists food odors and stains, unlike those plastic containers.

Fun, Customizable Touch That Makes Lunchtime Even Better!

"The PlanetBox Mix & Match Magnets are a fun and thoughtful addition that really elevates the whole lunchbox experience. I’m impressed by their quality and how easy they are to swap out, letting you personalize the look in seconds. The designs are vibrant and hold securely in place, even with daily use. It’s a simple idea, but it adds a lot of personality and makes lunchtime feel more enjoyable."

Good

"I like the microwave concept. It does work in the microwave, however, it is a bit challenging to remove from the larger container."

Kristine F. (4/5)

We love this lunchbox!

"I’ve used this lunchbox (for myself/hubs) for a few weeks and we are both equally impressed by its versatility and ease. Solid lunchbox and we appreciate the microwaveable insert (for work). It’s great for adults (& possibly older children) while my 4 year old loves his Rover!"

Tania (5/5)

Perfect size for lunch

"Love it! It’s the perfect size for lunch for adults and teenagers. I wouldn’t give this to an elementary kid though (we use the Rover for them). It does not come with the pods or square container, which is a big disappointment given the cost. Only the microwaveable insert is included. I ended up buying the Trailbazer, too, which comes with pods. I’ll mix and match the two depending on what’s for lunch. I also bought some round dippers for sauces. Overall love it. It saves us money not having to buy lunch everyday and being able to reuse it over and over again."

Durable lunchbox!

"I was very excited for the microwaveable tray and wasn't disappointed. I alternate using the Explorer with a stainless steel tiffin that is not microwave friendly; it's been really convenient so far. I do agree with other reviews that the tray is challenging to lift out of the box, but all in all, I'm very satisfied with my purchase!"

PERFECT DAILY LUNCH BOX

"THIS IS MY FAVORITE LUNCH BOX YET!!! MY HUSBAND AND I GRAVITATE TOWARDS THIS LUNCH BOX OVER THE OTHERS DURING THE WEEK BECAUSE IT FITS EVERYTHING WE NEED."

Emily Y. (5/5)

Not a great option for me

"I like that the inside section is microwaveable. It’s a good size. The problem I have is that it is hard to open/close with the gasket and even with the gasket it leaks all over the place. Planetbox doesn’t make a carrier that would keep this upright and the adventurer is not a good fit."

Ashley M. (2/5)

Explorer Leakproof

"The explorer is awesome because it’s smaller and leakproof! I’ve packed salmon and salad in the explorer and didn’t have any issues. I love that you can heat the top tray and the bottom tray is perfect for cold foods. The top tray is a little bit hard to come off so be careful when trying to grab the tray to heat up, but other than that it’s perfect."

Steel is not thick enough

"I spent hours online looking for the perfect non-toxic lunchbox and paid much more than I would've liked for what I thought was the best in class. However, my 13 year old destroyed this lunchbox in the first week of school! Apparently he was throwing it up in the air and letting it land on the ground (inside your insulated bag) and the 4 bottom corners got all crunched up. I have other stainless steel lunch containers that have lasted 5 years or more of this kiddo's shenanigans but Planet Box's stainless steel is too thin to hold up to task. I feel like I wasted my money. I hate that feeling."

Kristina C. (2/5)

Not what I expected.

"The lid does not open very smoothly… my kids have been struggling with the opening of the lids - and even the adults at their school are having a tough time opening it. Also, the stainless steel is not very durable. Very upset with my orders."
