Some lunches are practical. Others are a little bit fun. This one does both.
Inspired by the classic Hawaiian snack, the Spam Musubi Wrap brings bold flavor, satisfying texture, and just the right amount of novelty to your midday routine. It’s layered, folded, and entirely fuss-free—no mold or rolling required.
Crispy Spam meets sushi rice, tangy pickled veggies, cool avocado, and a drizzle of Kewpie mayo, all wrapped in nori and packed into a neat little square. It’s easy to assemble, highly customizable, and built for stainless steel lunch boxes that can keep up.
Whether you’re packing for school, work, or an on-the-go snack, this wrap delivers. No mess. No squish. Just a fresh take on lunch that holds up—and tastes even better than it looks.
Spam Musubi Wrap
Makes 2 wraps
Ingredients
- ½ can Spam, sliced and seared until golden
- 1 cup shredded cabbage & carrot mix
- 2 tsp rice vinegar
- ½ tsp sugar
- Pinch of salt
- ½ cup cooked white sushi rice
- ½ avocado, slicedCucumber slices
- Furikake seasoning
- Kewpie mayo
- 2 sheets of nori (seaweed)
Instructions
-
Start with a quick pickle.
In a small bowl, toss the cabbage and carrot mix with rice vinegar, sugar, and a pinch of salt. Let it sit and soften while you prepare the rest of the ingredients. -
Sear the Spam.
In a dry skillet over medium-high heat, cook the Spam slices until browned and crisp around the edges. Set aside on a plate lined with a paper towel. -
Prep your nori.
Lay one sheet of seaweed on a clean surface. Using scissors or a knife, make a cut from the center of the bottom edge halfway up the sheet. This will help you fold the wrap into quadrants. -
Assemble thoughtfully. Working clockwise:
-
- Bottom right quadrant: Add a scoop of rice, sprinkle with furikake, and drizzle with Kewpie mayo.
- Top right: Lay down the crispy Spam.
- Top left: Add cucumber slices and a small handful of the pickled veggie mix.
- Bottom left: Tuck in a few slices of avocado.
-
-
Fold like a pro.
Fold the rice quadrant up over the Spam → over to the left to cover the veggies → then down over the avocado. You’ll end up with a neat, multi-layered square. -
Wrap and pack.
Wrap tightly in parchment or reusable wrap and slice in half if desired. Pack in a Rover or Shuttle with a side of fruit, extra veggies, or a little dipper of extra mayo.
Pro Tips
- Warm rice helps the nori stay pliable and makes folding easier.
- Keep an extra nori sheet nearby in case of tears.
- These are best enjoyed the same day but can be prepped in the morning and packed for later.
